I paid tribute here to another very interesting article. A web article about the Captains Of Crush and who they are.
The official title of the article is: The Captains Of Crush. Are They Human Hydraulic Crushing Machines? published on cyberpump on July 5, 2003. Ouups! A little bit outdated, I know.
Resuming the article, a Captain Of Crush is someone who is officially certified close the Number 3 Captain Of Crush handgripper. Which require 280 pounds of hand pressure to completely close. What is annoying with the rough and tough COC grippers is that you always struggle to completely close them. The last millimeters to fully close it are the hardest.
There is no excuses with the COC grippers. You can’t say my hands are too small to close it. The Captains Of Crush are of all body size. Their bodyweight vary from 137lbs to well over 300lbs. Their heights vary from under 5’8 to over 6’5″.
You can’t even say you’re too young since the youngest Captain Of Crush is the late World’s Strongest Man Jesse Marunde. He was 18 years old at the time of the feat.
And most of all, if you can fully close the trainer and/or No. 1 COC grippers but can’t close the No. 2 or No. 3. Don’t blame your small hands or too big hands (ala Mark Felix) to close the more advanced hand grippers. If your hand size is adequate to fully close the trainer and Number 1 COC it is adequate to close the unhuman Number 4 COC grippers. The only thing lacking here is STRENGTH. All COC grippers are standard except for their level.
Adriane Blewitt: ONLY woman to ever close the Captains of Crush No. 2 Gripper (195 lbs of pressure to close)
