Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson now owns the XFL
After 5 weeks of play, the XFL football league’s operations slowly came to a close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and filed for bankruptcy on April 13.
On August 2, 2020, actor and producer Dwayne Johnson and ex-wife and longtime business partner Dany Garcia led a consortium with Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital to purchase the XFL for $15 million, hours before an auction could take place.
