THE STRONGEST MEN EVER

BILL KAZMAIER

Powerlifter, strongman, wrestler
Born 1953 in United States

Biceps: 23″
Forearms: 17″
Chest: 60″
Waist: 40″
Thighs: 32″

Aside from Mariusz Pudzianowski and Zydrunas Savickas, Bill Kazmaier is the greatest World’s Strongest Man winner in history.  Bill Kazmaier won the 1980, 81 and 82 WSM contests.  He was so dominant that the WSM officials unfairly barred him from competing in order to keep people entertained.

– Bill Kazmaier had a world record bench press of 661 pounds in a 1981 powerlifting competition.  A raw bench press performed in a loose-fitting white T-shirt.  No sling-shot bench shirts and others cheating devices.  At the very same event, he totaled (Squat+Deadlift+Bench Press) 2425 lbs, no gimmicks, no suits.
– Bill Kazmaier could simultaneously clean a pair of 156-pound dumbbells and them for 10 reps.
– Bill Kazmaier was the first man ever to lift all five McGlashen Stones – weighting 200 to 350 pounds.
– His best lifts were: 925 lbs squat (done without a suit), 662 lbs bench press, and 974 lbs deadlift.
Bill Kazmaier set the official World
Record barbell curl of 440 lbs
in 1985 as officiated by two Guinness
Book representatives, and witnessed by many.

MARK HENRY

Weightlifter, powerlifter, strongman, wrestler
Born 1971 in United States
6’1″, 410 pounds (220 pounds at age 9)

Neck: 24″
Fist: 14″
Wrist: 9.25″ (23.5 cm)
Biceps: 24″
Chest: 64″
Waist: 48″ (121.9 cm)
Thighs: 36″ (91.5cm)
Calves: 22.5″ (57 cm)
Shoe Size: 16
Suit Jacket: 64
Reach: 39″

A lifelong drug-free athlete, “The Silverback” Mark Henry is truly a freak of nature.  Excelled in the Holy Trinity of strength: Olympic lifting, powerlifting, and strongman competition.

– Mark Henry has held both the U.S. weightlifting and powerlifting superheavyweight championship titles at the same time.
– Mark Henry is a 1992 Olympian in Olympic lifting and placed tenth in the superheavyweight division, weighting 366 lbs at the time.

Mark Henry has the greatest combined weightlifting / powerlifting total in history.

– After all these years Mark Henry still hold Men’s Raw Drug Tested Powerlifting World Records (the only categorie that matter)
+ All Squats (with & without wraps) SHW 953 lbs Mark Henry USA 1995 WDFPF
+ Deadlift SHW 903 lbs Mark Henry USA 1995 ADFPA
+ All Totals (with & without wraps) SHW 2,336 lbs Mark Henry USA 1995 WDFPF

http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/records/raw/world

– Mark Henry won the inaugural Arnold Strongman Classic competition in 2002.  At this time, in my opinion, the Arnold Strongman Classic was the real World’s Strongest Man contest.  No shitty strength athletism here, the Arnold Strongman was a pure test of sheer strength and raw power.
– In 2002, Mark Henry was the first man in history to clean and press with one hand the famed Thomas Inch dumbbell, a 172 pounds dumbbell with a 21/2 inches thick handle.

Just imagine the superhuman feats of strength he would had achieved if he hasn’t left strength training in 1996 for a lucrative 10 years / $10 000 000 WWE wrestling contract.

VICTOR DELAMARRE

Strongman

Born: September 24, 1888
Died: March 13, 1955, Quebec
Birthplace: Hébertville, Québec, Canada
Height: 5’51/2” (166.5 cm)
Weight: 154 lbs (70 kg)

Chest: 46″
Neck: 16″
Biceps: 17″
Waist: 28″
Thigh: 20″
Calf: 14″

He was one of thirteen children and built the foundation for his great strength at a young age by farming and working as a lumberjack.
Practising sports like Boxing and Wrestling since the age of 13.
When he was 14 years old, DeLamarre studied the exploits of Louis Cyr and declared that he would one day break Cyr’s records.
Came to Montreal and joined the Police. At the time, Montreal cops were required to be big strong individuals. Delamarre was deemed too small but his feats of strength spoke for himself.

Some of his feats of strength were climbing a ladder carrying a horse in a sling, bending a quarter between his thumb and forefinger, etc.

Had double tendons and a four-inch thick spine, more than the double of a strongman (facts verified at the autopsy). He was said to be hard as steel.

April 2nd 1914, when, at age 25, weighting 154 pounds, Victor DeLamarre officially bent-pressed (dĂ©vissĂ©) 309-1/2 lbs at the Arcade theater of Montreal.
Doing so, Delamarre shattered 4 records.
1- Defeating Louis Cyr (273 lbs bent-press)
2- Lifting a weight twice as heavy as him overhead with one-hand.
3- Doing the heaviest Bent-press (dévissé) in history.
4- Defeating all the heavyweights of the world as a middleweight.

  • February 24, 1922: officially clean-and-jerked 201.5 lbs with only one finger.
  • Around 1925, at Montreal: backlifted 65 people on a platform (7000 lbs)

He wrestled over 1500 bouts as a professional, mainly in 1930s.

An expert on the subject, Raymond Desbiens, is convinced that Victor Delamarre was stronger than Louis Cyr, billed as the strongest man of all time by many historians. Raymond Desbiens also stated that Victor Delamarre had visibly more stamina than Louis Cyr in his performances. However, Louis Cyr was a better showman and had the classic strongman look.

Louis GagnĂ©, the general director of l’Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac Bouchette – were the strongman memorabilia are exposed – stated: “Victor Delamarre defeated Louis Cyr on everything except marketing. Delamarre could have been a lot more famous: he was offered movie roles from an american producer. But he refused since they wanted him to change his name for Delaware.”

  1. Please do correct the information on Louis Cyr.
He was born in 10 octobre 1863
    Saint-Cyprien-de-Napierville, Québec. Thank yoou.

  2. Please do correct the wrong information on Louis Cyr; he is not american but quebecer born in 10 octobre 1863 Saint-Cyprien-de-Napierville
Thank you. sorry for my poor english.

  3. Being French Canadian myself, I can't belive I made such a sacrilegious and stupid mistake. The corrections have been made. Thank you for your help!

  4. Hossein Rezazadeh is maybe the best of the modern era. But I wouldn't put him on this list anyway. I would put Leonid Taranenko way before him. Leonid Taranenko singlehandly realized the greatest feat of strength in the history of humanity. LEONID TARANENKO CLEAN-AND-JERKED 266.0 KG (585.2 LBS) OVERHEAD 25 YEARS AGO!!!

Hossein Rezazadeh never succeded at best the all-time records of 25 years ago. The best IWF marks of 216.0 kg (475.2 lbs) Snatch (Antonio Krastev, 1987), 266.0 kg (585.2 lbs) Clean and Jerk (Leonid Taranenko, 1988), and 475.0 kg (1045 lbs) Total (Taranenko, 1988). Krastev and Taranenko were screwed out of their world records with the restructuration of weight classes. But these weights still remain as the heaviest weights lifted.

"The Iranian Hercules" Hossein Rezazadeh's bests are 263.5 kg (580.9 pounds)Clean-and-Jerk, Snatch: 213 kg (469.6 lbs), Total: 472.5 kg (1,041.8 lbs).

  5. the backlift of 6270 pounds of anderson is very controversial to say the least . he probably never did it .

  6. how much could cyr have deadlifted on a barbell . in his days louis uni from france was also great . .

  7. Very good question since deadlift wasn't a popular lift at the turn of the century. German super strongman Hermann Görner was the King of Deadlift in 1920. Before him Deadlift wasn't a fixture in circus strongman show.

The Libertine -.

Take a look at my site – comment draguer une fille

  9. His wrists are most likely 8.2 inches as indicated.
Andre the Giant was billed as having 11 inches wrists.

  10. Pyrros Dimas was one of the greatest weightlifters of all time but not the strongest since he competed in the below 85 kg categories.

  11. Leonid Taranenko is the best forever …and it a. Ex "100kg" upgraded in superheavy for crush the all category trophy…. but its a lityle guy of under 5'10"…(1m77) .hes not acromecalic ..not giant…but unbreakable perf..
.5×290…3×315..single of 322,5.. in front squat ??? You can imagine that… reza or kurlowitch are very strong. But in front squat they are level under..3×270..1×290..maybe 300 in single….TARANENKO IS A BEAST

  12. I dont sure than a big Wrist diameter is an obligation cor became Ă  great Superhavy lifter…Jouko Ahola is very string with normal bone frame… andrĂ© tge giant has normal wrist for hes 7'2" height … but SULTAN RACHMANOV HAD 11INCH WRIST TOO…BUT FOR 6'2" (1M88)…LOL Botev win bronze in Atlanta (5'10 / 290 lbs) had just 43 french 9 american of schoes Size and 20 cm Wrist (8 inch)

  13. Andre the Giant had 11 inches wrist. Nonetheless you don't need to be big boned do be strong but it is however a big advantage.

As for yours truly did, from being a 159-pound guy with 7" wrist I've transformed myself into a +300 pounds competitive strongman naturally.

  14. Im 5'11" 330lbs 8"and dusts wrist (but im big since my 12/13 Y.o i begging lifting at 13 with 5'10" 225lbs …and i was rouds user at 17 yo 31 years im natural just since 2006.. . Maybe if i had never use GH and roĂŻds my wrist no exceed 7" and my foot 11 like my father..or me at 12 YO..lol (my size schoes is 14 since my 24 y.o). Maybe my big bones are side effect of doping..or partially…(my maxi body weight was 370 for a 1986lbs total at big 3. .but i admire naturall Strongmen ) .1986 is just a theoric .if i added all my best competition results. But i never can be in top same day in 3 movment lol

  15. You can thank your genetic and gods of Barbells for this 7" of wrist !!!(your height is in hight average i suppose )…because 7" inch wrist in close of STRICT MINIMUM for a super( Strick border is 6"2/3 .in metric 17cm ) …you can carried a bodyweight of 125/130 no more !after you can destroy your knees..hip…with aged… 7 INCH IS SAME JOUKHO AHOLA…light bone frame.6'1". And on of better and exist several great lifters of 300lbs . Me with 8" my max carried for BONES HEALTH is 340 lbs.(Rezazadeh..Lallas..taranenko.Steiner). YOU SEE IMPORTANCE OF FRAME..each inch in more you can added 40 lbs… The 400 and + lbs monsters like Big Z or Brian Shaw or the mountain or Mogushkov havent no little 7 or 8 inch like uS !!! But in majority 9"(or more ) 8,5 to 9inch (22/23 cm) wrist is a value very commun for very huges giants lifters(no in rapport of Height..muscular giant..Itte Detenamo (5'7")(Shane Hamman and Paul Anderson (5'9") Lallas (5'10) Talakadze Salimikordasiabi (6'6") all these lifters are in " +22/23 clubs

  16. You can be an exception…maybe you have an enormous density (training permit that …) maybe your legs bones are more large and you can carried a big bodyweight withouth problem.

  17. Not at all! I'm 6'1" with 9 to 10 shoe size with small ankle bones, small and short fingers.

In fact, when I was 300 to 315 lbs (325 was too heavy, I had almost trouble breathing) I had enormous tree trunks 33" thighs, 44" waist, 23" neck, 20.5" arms. BUT my heavy frame and huge squat was accompagnied by heel spur pain so I had to wear orthesis in my shoes 24/7. And years of force-feeding resulted in some digestive and intestinal problems. I had regular stomach burning and it seem that I wasn't able to digest anything anymore. My body just told me that he was sick and tired about my strongman bulking up. Since I wasn't doing strongman competitions anymore I didn't needed to weight 300 pounds anymore. So I decided to slim down my weight trying to get cut.

I retired from strongman competitions in 2007 or 2008 and now I weight a lean as fuck, very low fat, veiny athletic 170 pounds with defined abs. I can't believe it.

All I can tell you is that force-feeding is alot worse and harder than not eating at all. And I didn't miss my huge 33" thighs.

Doing strongman competitions and being freaky huge and strong was MY DREAM and MY OBSESSION. I did it against all odds and I'm VERY PROUD of it. But now I am elsewhere and certainly healthier, more comfortable in my body, and in better shape.

Here are some pics of my strongman era.
    http://www.strengthfighter.com/p/the-pygod.html

  18. Me i beggin to have gastro intestinal and breathe problem after 350lbs (for 5'11")…but i loose speed beetwin 330 and 350lbs…i prefer stay at 330 ! Every person must found his IDEAL AND PERSONAL WEIGHT .is very important ! Its supid and dangerous to try imitated other lifters ! I prefer 330lbs and sleep withouth wake up with gastric acid in mouth or be tired by sleeping breathe pause !!! Even if my idole is Shane Haman…im sad to be lighter him…but im more performant at 330 than at 370

  19. Whaou my thights are 30" no more…31,5 when im bigger..and for info in Strongman im a big crappy dogshit ! (Except jerk on neck in single..deadlift and …farmer march…im a beast in theses 3 exercises) .im in Raw powerlifting and oly W.L..
    . Lol i never weighted 170lbs since 1985 (i was a 10 years child)

  20. Every case is different and personally !! I begin lift at 13 years.in middle of 1988 year… oki but in january of this years i was an ogre (220lbs 5'10"Just before my 13st birthday OK MARK HENRY DO SAME THING 4 YEARS EARLIER.LOL )…
